19 Dead, Over 300 Injured As 6.3 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts PoK; Strong Tremors Felt In North India
An earthquake, with an epicentre 173 kilometers from Lahore in Pakistan, jolted several parts of North India and Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday evening.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter was 3 kilometres from New Mirpur city, the capital of Mirpur district and the largest city of the PoK. News agency PTI, quoting local Pakistan media, reported that injured people, including women and children, were shifted to a hospital in Mirpur in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after a building collapsed following the earthquake. Soon after the natural disaster took place, Twitter users in both India and Pakistan started sharing images and videos of cracked roads and damaged vehicles.
