Downward Trend In Daily Covid Infections Continues As India Reports 1.73 Lakh New Cases At 45-Day Low

The recovery rate in the country has increased to 90.80 percent. At the same time, the weekly positivity rate has now gone up to 9.84 percent, which has been less than ten percent for five consecutive days. 

New Delhi: In some respite amid the ongoing Covid crisis, the number of fresh cases is gradually going down. The Union Health Ministry on Saturday informed that 1.73 lakh new cases have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours, which is the lowest in the last 45 days.

2,84,601 people have also been recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours.

This is for the third time since April 13 that India has recorded less than two lakh Covid cases. On May 25, India has recorded 1.96 lakh cases of Covid, and 1,86,364 cases on May 28.

The fatalities have also remained below 4,000 for three consecutive days.

Recovery rate increases to 90.80 percent

Union Health Ministry has informed that till date, 2,51,78,011 people have recovered from Covid-19. With this, the recovery rate in the country has increased to 90.80 percent.

The daily positivity further declined to 8.36 percent, remaining below 10 percent for five consecutive days, while the weekly positivity rate dropped to 9.84 percent, it said.

India reported 1,73,790 new Covid-19 cases, 2,84,601 discharges and 3,617 deaths in last 24 hours, Union Health Ministry revealed on Saturday.

Death toll: 3,22,512    
Active cases: 22,28,724 

Total vaccination: 20,89,02,445

Besides this, a total of 34,11,19,909 sample tests have been conducted so far. Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that 20,80,48 samples were tested yesterday. With this, a total of 34,11,19,909 sample tests have been done so far in the country.

Maharashtra's daily Covid-19 deaths remained on the higher side while the state toll raced beyond the 93,000 mark, but new infections continue to dip, health officials said on Friday.

Against 884 deaths on Thursday, the state reported 973 fatalities (424 fresh and 549 previous deaths), taking its toll to 93,198.

After one month of lockdown, Delhi on Friday reported 1,141 new cases and the daily positivity rate stands below 2 percent from the last week.

Fresh Covid cases in India came down below the three lakh mark for the first time on May 17 after touching a record high of 4,14,188 on May 7.
