Doctor In Assam Brutally Assaulted By Kin Following Covid Patient's Death, 24 Held

Hojai: A doctor was brutally assaulted by the family members of a deceased Covid patient. The doctor had to be admitted to a hospital to for the injuries sustained from the gruesome attack. The Indian Medical Association has written to the Home Minister of India, Amit Shah condemning the attack and requesting him to approve an effective and strong action against violence.
The incident took place a hospital in Hojai district on Tuesday.

Earlier, Assam Medical Service Association wrote to Hojai's Deputy Commissioner Office condemning the attack on a junior doctor following a patient's death who was suffering from COVID & pneumonia "Request Assam govt to book these merciless culprits immediately," the letter reads.
According to the doctor, Seuj Kumar Senapati was attacked by angry family members said that the patient had died by the time he reached. In a video of the incident, a group of people can be seen charging at the doctor with slippers and sticks in front of the hospital building.
The Indian Medical Association wrote to the Union Home Minster expressing their distress over the situation as this isn't the first time a doctor or medical staff was assaulted so brutally.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that 24 people have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a doctor via a tweet.
