Delhi Pollution: Is Delhi's Air Poisonous? Air Pollution Increases Six-Fold In National Capital

Pollution in Delhi: According to meteorologists, Delhi's air is expected to get worse in the next few days and pollution levels in some areas would be increasing further.

Just like every year, Delhi's air quality is said to be deteriorating as the winter sets in at the national capital. Air pollution levels have been recorded be more than six times higher than standard in many areas of Delhi. Stubble burning in many parts of Punjab and Haryana is said to be the major factor behind deteriorating air quality in the National Capital. According to meteorologists, Delhi's air quality is expected to get worse in the next few days with pollution levels increasing further in certain areas of the National capital.

Breathing to get more difficult during Diwali:

Pollution levels in Delhi is expected to increase considerably by Diwali, as a result of which people of Delhi will also have a lot of difficulty breathing. According to a report by Safar, an air pollution level monitoring agency in Delhi NCR, the PM 2.5 level in Delhi's Mathura Road area has been recorded at 316 micrograms per cubic meter, while the PM of the area was 10-295. Talking about Delhi's Airport Area, the level of PM 2.5 here is recorded at 306 micrograms per cubic meter. According to air standards, PM 2.5 levels should not exceed 60 micrograms per cubic meter and PM10 levels should not exceed 100 micrograms per cubic meter.

Haryana and Punjab impacted by stubble burning:

Dr. Gufran Baig, Director, Project Safar and Ministry or Earth Science said that stubble burning is affecting Delhi's air quality. Along with the National Capital, air quality at some areas in Haryana and Punjab are also deteriorating. In addition, the level of pollution in the air is increasing further due to low wind speed.
