Delhi Police Seize 350 Kg Of Heroin Worth Rs 2,500 Cr; 4, Including Afghan National, Arrested In Mega Bust

Special Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, Neeraj Thakur, while briefing the media in this regard on Saturday said the operation had been going on for months.

New Delhi: In one of the biggest drug busts conducted, the Special Cell of Delhi Police on Saturday seized 354 kilograms of heroin worth Rs 2,500 crores and arrested four people, including an Afghan national, in connection with the matter.

Special Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, Neeraj Thakur, while briefing the media in this regard on Saturday, said the operation had been going on for months.

“It was supplied in the legitimate export material from Afghanistan through Iran port and then sent to Mumbai. They have also made a make-shift factory in MP. Their Faridabad location was also busted,” he added.

Thakur further said there are clues suggesting that money to fund the operation may have been coming from Pakistan as well.

The Delhi Police personnel, who are currently interrogating the four suspects held, are also said to be probing the narco-terrorism angle in this case as the seizure of this biggest consignment of drugs comes in as a major achievement in the efforts against international drug traffickers.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had earlier last month busted an international drugs trafficking syndicate with the arrest of eight people and seizure of 22 lakh psychotropic tablets and at least 245 kg of similar drugs that were being allegedly peddled over the darknet.
