Delhi Court Sends Gangster Deepak Boxer To 14-Day Police Custody In Fake Passport Case

Patiala Court had directed the jail authorities and Delhi police to ensure the safety of Deepak Boxer after he received threats and raised apprehension that he may be shot dead.

New Delhi: Deepak Boxer, who was arrested by Delhi Police Special Cell from Mexico has been sent to 14-day police custody on Saturday in his alleged connection with a fake passport case, news agency ANI reported. He was produced before Delhi’s Patiala Court earlier in the day.

Earlier on Friday, Patiala Court had directed the jail authorities and Delhi police to ensure the safety and security of Deepak Boxer after he received threats and raised apprehension that he may be shot dead while being produced in courts.

"Considering the same Superintendent Jail concerned as well as DCP DAP III Battalion are directed to ensure that accused Deepak Pahal alias Boxer is produced before Courts in UP in proper custody and security and if required may be handcuffed to ensure his proper safety,” the court said.

Notably, Deepak Boxer, one of Delhi's most-wanted gangsters who was nabbed by the police authorities in Mexico, was brought to New Delhi earlier this month.

Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) HGS Dhaliwal said, "Action has been taken against the fugitives on the instructions of Home Minister. It is a big success that for the first time (a criminal) has been brought from a place like Mexico through coordinated action. The Special Cell of Delhi Police was following him (Gangster Deepak Boxer) for several months. There is no other bigger gangster in Delhi-NCR than this. Several teams have worked on this."

Deepak Boxer, a winner in a national-level boxing championship, was trying to enter the US illegally via Mexico and allegedly planning to run his organised crime gang in Delhi and neighbouring states from there before being caught, police said.

"We received inputs in January that Deepak got made a fake passport in the name of Ravi Antil from Bareilly to flee the country. He took a flight from Kolkata to Dubai. Then from Dubai, he went to Almaty, Kazakhstan, and reached Turkey. He then headed for Spain. After taking multiple routes, he finally reached Mexico,” Dhaliwal said.
