Delhi Court Sends CM Arvind Kejriwal To ED's Judicial Custody Till June 5

A Delhi Court on Sunday sent Arvind Kejriwal to judicial custody till June 5. The Court noted the ED recently moved an application seeking the Judicial Custody of Arvind Kejriwal.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal surrendered himself at the Tihar jail on Sunday following the expiration of his interim bail granted by the Supreme Court in connection with the excise policy-linked money laundering case. After his surrender, a Delhi court, acknowledging a recent application by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), decided to send him into judicial custody until June 5.

The application was pending as he was on interim bail. Today after his surrender, the application was taken by the Duty Judge of Rouse Avenue Court. The concerned Judge decided to send him to judicial custody till June 5, news agency ANI reported.

Going Back To Jail Because I Raised Voice Against Dictatorship: Arvind Kejriwal

Before his surrender, Kejriwal undertook various activities, including paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat, offering prayers at the Hanuman temple in Connaught Place, and addressing leaders and workers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) at the party office. "I am going back to jail not because I was involved in corruption but because I raised voice against dictatorship. I was given a 21-day relief by the Supreme Court. These 21 days were unforgettable. I did not waste even a minute. I campaigned for saving the country. The AAP is not important, it is secondary. The country comes first," Kejriwal stated, as quoted by news agency PTI.

Disputing the predictions of exit polls projecting a third term for the BJP-led NDA government, Kejriwal dismissed them as "fake." He asserted, "They are not forming government on June 4. These exit polls are mind games to drive you into depression."

Ahead of Kejriwal's arrival at Tihar jail, security measures were heightened, with traffic restrictions imposed in the vicinity. His wife, Sunita Kejriwal, accompanied him along with several AAP leaders, including Atishi, Kailash Gahlot, and Saurabh Bharadwaj, among others.
