LG And Kejriwal On Collision Course As Baijal Says Delhi Govt Hospitals Will Treat All Covid-19 Patients

The Delhi LG in his capacity as Chairperson of the DDMA has directed departments and authorities of National Capital Territory of Delhi to ensure that treatment is not denied to any patient.

New Delhi: Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal on Monday overruled Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's decision to restrict people from other states to get Coronavirus treatment in hospitals run by the Delhi government. ALSO READ | Low Intensity Earthquake Hits Delhi NCR Again; Epicentre In Gurgaon Border Overruling the decision of the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal that treatment for Covid-19 would only be provided to residents of the capital city in Delhi government and private hospitals, Baijal on Monday in his capacity as Chairperson of the DDMA has directed departments and authorities of National Capital Territory of Delhi to ensure that treatment is not denied to any patient on grounds of not being a resident of Delhi. This decision will bring relief to patients and their families from outside Delhi who are seeking treatment during the pandemic. Kejriwal's decision of  hospitals run by Delhi government and even private hospitals will give Covid-19 treatment only to residents of the national capital has been criticised by many including his political opponents. As of now, there are 28,936 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Delhi out of which 10,999 persons have recovered while 812 casualties have been reported. At the same time, people living in other states can access the Central government hospitals for treatment. However, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener, said that treatment-related to transplantation, neurosurgery, oncology will continue for all patients irrespective of their place of residence. In order to get admission in a Delhi government hospital for Covid-19 treatment, residents were asked to produce valid proof of residence such as Voter ID, passbook, passport, driving license, etc. Earlier in the day, it was reported that Delhi CM himself developed sore throat and fever which are also strong symptoms of Coronavirus and has gone into self-quarantine.
