COVID Mutation: Ban All Flights From UK Immediately, Kejriwal Urges Centre

In the wake of the spread of the mutant coronavirus strain in UK, the Union health ministry has called for an emergency meeting of its Joint Monitoring Group (JMG).

UK New Coronavirus Strain: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday urged the Centre to ban all the flights from UK in the wake of the new 'highly infectious' Covid-19 strain. On the spread of the mutant coronavirus strain in UK, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that the government is alert and there is no need to panic.

Meanwhile, the Union health ministry called for an emergency meeting of its Joint Monitoring Group (JMG). The emergency Joint Monitoring Group meeting in India, is to be chaired by the Director General of Health Services. Experts from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the World Health Organisation (WHO) representative and others.

The new Covid-19 strain found in UK has triggered an alarm across the world as it led to massive surge in cases in southeast England and London. The new variant of the virus has gone out of control in UK, heath secretary Matt Hancock said. Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that the strain of the virus may be up to 70 percent more infectious.
