Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Malhiwal shared a post on social media to inform her followers about her maternal grandfather’s demise. She expressed her displeasure with a leading hospital for not admitting her grandfather despite requests. She said that she requested the hospital authorities for admission but they didn’t admit her grandfather, who died outside the hospital while waiting for emergency support. 

“My nana died waiting for emergency support in front of Sharda Hospital Greater NOIDA. I kept standing there for half hour and pleading for admission and nothing happened. Shame! Pathetic!,” Swati tweeted.  

Many Twitter users reacted to Swati’s post and offered their condolence. One user talked about the current COVID-19 crisis and how Malhiwal’s family had to face such a situation despite her being the DCW chief.

“She is Delhi commissioner for women.. if her family are facing this kind of situation, then I can only imagine what a common man must be going through,” he wrote on the micro-blogging site.  

On a related note, the Covid second wave has put a lot of strain on the medical infrastructure in the country. The Central and state government’s failure to deal with pandemic has been met with mounting criticism from all the corners.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cancelled his visit to West Bengal as he will be chairing high-level meeting the review the Coronavirus situation in the country. PM Modi was reportedly supposed to address four rallies in Bengal. He tweeted, "Tomorrow, I will be chairing high-level meetings to review the prevailing Covid-19 situation. Due to that, I would not be going to West Bengal."
