'Culture Of Fake Promises': PM Modi Slams Congress Over 'Unfulfilled Guarantees', Says Party 'Badly Exposed'
PM Modi said that the poor, youngsters, farmers, and women, who are denied the benefits of these "fake promises" are victims of such politics.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi came down heavily at the Congress on Friday saying that the party stands "badly exposed" in front of people for constantly making promising to them, which the party knows it will "never be able to deliver". He said that the party was now realising the "hard way" that making "unreal promises" is easy but their implementation was tough or impossible.
Later, Kharge hit back at PM Modi saying that before pointing fingers, the prime minister should note that "Modi Ki Guarantee is a cruel joke on 140 crore Indians".
His remarks came as Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge asked the party's state units to make poll promises that are financially viable and do not lead to financial troubles. Kharge had directed the state units to do so amid reports of fiscal problems being faced by the party-ruled states in keeping up with some of their pre-poll announcements.

Campaign after campaign they promise things to the people which they also know they will never be able to deliver. Now, they stand badly exposed in front of the people!"

'Unfulfilled Guarantees A Terrible Deceit Upon People'
PM Modi further pointed out that the developmental trajectory and fiscal health in the Congress-ruled states of Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana is "turning from bad to worse", adding that the "so-called guarantees" lie unfulfilled, which is a "terrible deceit" upon the people of these states.
He added that the poor, youngsters, farmers, and women, who are denied the benefits of these promises are victims of such politics.
"Their so-called Guarantees lie unfulfilled, which is a terrible deceit upon the people of these states. The victims of such politics are the poor, youngsters, farmers and women, who are not only denied the benefits of these promises but also see their existing schemes diluted," the Prime Minister wrote.
PM Modi further urged people to be "vigilant against the Congress-sponsored culture of fake promises". Referring to Congress's unexpected setback in Haryana, he said: "We saw recently how the people of Haryana rejected their lies and preferred a government that is stable, progress-oriented and action-driven."
"There is a growing realisation across India that a vote for the Congress is a vote for non-governance, poor economics and unparalleled loot," the PM said, with the hashtag "fake promises of Congress".
PM Modi also accused the grand old party of being involved in internal politics in Karnataka and "looting" the states where it rules.
"In Karnataka, the Congress is busier in intra-party politics and loot instead of even bothering to deliver on development. Not only that, they are also going to roll back existing schemes, Modi said. In Himachal Pradesh, he added, salaries of government employees are not paid on time and Telangana farmers are waiting for the waiver they were promised," he said.
"Previously, in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, they promised certain allowances which were never implemented for five years. There are numerous such examples of how the Congress works. The people of India want development and progress, not the same old fake promises of Congress," the prime minister added.

In a post on X, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge slammed PM Modi and the government led by him saying that the 'B' in BJP stands for "betrayal", while 'J' stands for "jumla".
He said that the 5 adjectives which best describe PM Modi-led government are: "Lies, Deceit, Fakery, Loot and Publicity". "Your drum beating regarding a 100-day plan was a cheap PR stunt!" Kharge added.

Congress's KC Venugopal Says, 'What PM Said Is Wrong'
Congress general secretary KC Venugopal rejected PM Modi's accusations, saying that the government in Karnataka was implementing the schemes as per the party's promise.
"We are implementing everything in Karnataka in a greater way. Anybody can check. We are implementing our promises, which is a clear model of Congress' promises. We are implementing in Karnataka whatever we promised. Anybody can examine it," he said.
"What PM said is wrong...Basically, the government of India is not delivering what they promised... They are blaming us for non-delivery. But on our part, we are delivering on our promises," he added.
