CRPF Trooper On Leave Shot Dead By Militants In South Kashmir's Shopian

The deceased has been identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Dohi, a resident of Shopian.

New Delhi: A CRPF trooper was shot dead by some unidentified militants in south Kashmir’s Shopian on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Dohi, a resident of Shopian.

As per report, Dohi was was on leave at Chotipora village of Shopian.

Confirming the incident, a police officer, as quoted by news agency PTI, said, “At about 7:35 pm, terrorists fired upon a CRPF personnel, Mukthar Ahmad, at his home in Check Chotipora area of Shopian in south Kashmir.”

The officer also said that Ahmad Dohi was referred to the district hospital in Shopian where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The area has been cordoned off and a hunt has been launched to nab the attackers, police said.

Meanwhile, Pakistani Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) commander identified as Kamaal Bhai, who was active since 2018, was killed in Pulwama encounter, Jammu and Kashmir Police informed on Saturday morning.

In separate encounters, four terrorists were killed this morning, two in Pulwama, one in Handwara, and another in Ganderbal, the Kashmir Zone Police said, as reported by news agency ANI. One terrorist has been captured alive.
