Covid-19 Containment Zones Decreases In Last One Year In Delhi

According to the state government's data, 472 containment zones were recorded in Delhi on Wednesday. This figure is considered to be the lowest in the last 15 months.

After the deadly second wave of Covid-19 in the capital, the situation is now improving a bit. In the last 15 months, the least number of containment zones were recorded on Wednesday. This information has been received from the government data. In fact, according to the data of the revenue department of the state government, 472 spots in Delhi have been declared as containment zones on Wednesday. None of the 472 spots comes under the South East region. Government records state that the last active containment zone in the South Eastern district was notified on Monday. According to the data, there are no zero containment zones recorded in any district of Delhi since June 14, 2020.

According to the information, so far in 2021, the lowest containment zones were recorded on March 12. During that time there were 488 hot spots in the city. Because of the increasing cases of the Covid-19, the Center had insisted on adopting the policy of micro control. This policy was implemented on 30 June 2020, with the aim of sealing small areas and keeping fewer people under extreme surveillance.

What the Containment zone?

Containment zones are places where there are high cases or clusters of the Covid 19 virus. Where economic activities are regulated and movement is restricted. The phased relaxation on lockdown rules does not apply in areas notified as containment zones and state teams deliver essential goods door-to-door. Containment zone can be notified only 14 days after the last new case.

Micro Control proved to be an effective strategy

Dr Lalit Kant, former head of the department of epidemiology and communicable diseases at the Indian Council of Medical Research, said that micro-control has been a very effective strategy in terms of preventing the spread of the disease. The policy is effective and faces little resistance from the people.
