Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS, Tuesday, July 6: India reported 34,703 new cases in the last 24 hours. According to Union Health Ministry, this is lowest in 111 days. Active cases have declined to 4,64,357 while the recovery rate rises to 97.17%.
In its daily health bulletin, the Centre reported that the total recoveries across the country so far are 2,97,52,294. Of these, 51,864 patients recovered during last 24 hours. With this, recovery rate increases to 97.17%. The daily recoveries continue to outnumber the faily new cases for the 54th consecutive day.
In a seperate development, the central government announced to increase the capacity of domestic civil aviation operations from 50 per cent to 60 per cent. The Ministry of Civil Aviation said that domestic carriers can now operate at 65 per cent passenger capacity from the current 50 per cent. "After review of the curret status of schedules Domestic Operations viz-aviz passenger demand for air travel in terms of purpose specified in the initial order...is further modified as - 50% capacity may be read as 65% capacity," the notice read.

No fresh COVID-19 case in Andamans; tally at 7,482
Months after witnessing a rise in COVID-19 cases, Andaman and Nicobar Islands did not record a single fresh infection in the last 24 hours, a health department official said on Tuesday. The coronavirus tally in the Union Territory remained at 7,482, he said.
Six people were cured of the disease on Monday, taking the total number of recoveries in the archipelago to 7,339. The death toll remained at 128 as no fresh fatality due to the contagion was reported in the last 24 hours, the official said. The Union Territory now has 15 active cases.
The local administration has been strict to contain the spread of the disease and has adopted an approach of tracking, testing and treating, he said, adding that people arriving here from the mainland are mandatorily required to undergo COVID test. Altogether, 1,91,102 people have been inoculated with 32,257 of them having received both doses of the vaccine.
The Andaman and Nicobar administration has conducted 4,14,166 sample tests for COVID-19 so far, and the positivity rate stands at 1.81 per cent, the official added.
