Coronavirus: India's Daily Cases Cross New High Of 38K; Overall Tally Likely To Surge Past 11 Lakh By Tomorrow
With 22,381 more cases, India would touch 11 lakh cases and given the trends of per-day rise, it is most likely to reach the grim figure by tomorrow.
Coronavirus In India: The Coronavirus situation in the country seems to be getting worse with each passing day. On Sunday, the country was just 1,000 short of touching 40,000 per day figure, and the total tally remained one day short of reaching another lakh. With highest single day spike of 38,902 cases, the total Covid-19 cases in India spiked to 10,77,619. With 22,381 more cases, India would touch 11 lakh cases and given the trends of per-day rise, it is most likely to reach the grim figure by tomorrow.

Total Covid-19 positive cases stand at 10,77,618 including 3,73,379 active cases, 6,77,423 cured/discharged/migrated and 26,816 deaths, the Health Ministry has said.
Total samples tested:
1,37,91,869 samples tested for Covid-19 up to 18th July, of which 3,58,127 were tested yesterday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) stated.
Recovery rate:
As per the government, the recovery rate of the country has improved to 62.86 %. Currently, over 6.77 lakh patients have recovered from the disease while over 3.73 patients are undergoing treatment.
Worst-hit states:
Maharashtra’s Covid-19 tally crossed the 3 lakh threshold figure while Mumbai surpassed the 1 lakh-mark, with deaths dropping below the 200-mark for the second time in July. Maharashtra is followed by Tamil Nadu and Delhi in terms of cases.
Communty transfer in India:
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Saturday said that the community transmission of Covid-19 in India has started and the situation looks bad.
While speaking to news agency ANI, Dr V K Monga, the Chairman of IMA Hospital Board of India said, “This is now an exponential growth. Every day the number of cases is increasing by more than around 30,000. This is really a bad situation for the country. There are so many factors connected with it but overall this is now spreading to rural areas. This is a bad sign. It now shows a community spread.”
