Congress To Hold 'Hai Taiyaar Hum' Rally On Dec 28 As I.N.D.I.A. Decides Mass Contact Drives For LS Polls

The Congress announcement of "Hai Taiyaar Hum" national-level rally is in line with the I.N.D.I.A. bloc's decision to focus on mass contact programs to woo voters ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday approved deputation for arrangements of the "Hai Taiyaar Hum" national-level rally scheduled in Nagpur on December 28, 2023. This comes after Kharge announced a nationwide protest on December 22 led by the opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc in response to the suspension of 141 Members of Parliament from both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The suspension follows unruly behavior during parliamentary sessions, with 49 additional lawmakers suspended on Tuesday.

In a statement, Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal conveyed Kharge's approval for coordination efforts for the "Hai Taiyaar Hum" rally.  The approved AICC Secretaries include P.C. Vishnunadh, MLA; Qazi Nizamuddin; Sanjay Kapoor; Dheeraj Gurjar; Chandan Yadav; B.M. Sandeep; Chetan Chauhan; Pradeep Narwal; and Abhishek Dutt.

The announcement of the national-level rally is in line with the Opposition bloc's decision to focus on mass contact programs to woo voters ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

After the I.N.D.I.A. bloc meeting, RJD MP Manoj Jha told news agency ANI that there was a unanimous decision on seat-sharing and that mass contact should be made within three weeks, especially one-on-one interactions.

"It was decided that we have to ensure a maximum 101 program... Thirdly, it was emphasised especially by Tejashwi Yadav, that PM Modi does pointless politics. We have to identify 5 issues to which the people can relate. Whether it is employment issues, pensions, health... I think the achievement of this meeting is that the issue should be decided, a mass contact program should be started, and seat sharing within three weeks at a state level should be ensured," he said.

I.N.D.I.A. Protest On Dec 28 Against Mass Expulsion Of MPs

The I.N.D.I.A. bloc is set to hold a nationwide protest on December 22 against the suspension of 141 Members of Parliament. The suspension, stemming from disruptive conduct during parliamentary sessions, has sparked widespread debate.

Kharge, addressing a press conference after the I.N.D.I.A bloc meeting in New Delhi, condemned the suspension as undemocratic and highlighted the coalition's resolution against the disciplinary action. He expressed concern over the unprecedented mass suspension and called for unity in defense of democracy.

"If we have to save democracy, we will have to fight together, and all of us are ready for this fight," Kharge stated, as quoted by PTI. He questioned the government's handling of the security breach in Parliament on December 13, urging the Home Minister and Prime Minister to address the incident in the House.

The Congress chief also criticised the absence of the Prime Minister and Home Minister during parliamentary sessions.

"This is the first instance that so many people have been suspended," Kharge noted, accusing the government of attempting to undermine democracy. The nationwide protest on December 22 aims to voice opposition to the suspension of MPs.
