Honeymoon Cystitis: Literally Love Sick! Negligence In Love Can Lead to This Condition | Health Live

Around 50 to 60 percent of women globally will experience a UTI at some point in their lives. According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, women are 30 times more likely to develop urinary tract infections than men, with the issue more prevalent among young women. This condition during intercourse is known as honeymoon cystitis. Dr. Neha Abhijeet Pawar, Consultant Gynaecologist at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, explains why this occurs and offers tips for prevention. The CDC reports that UTIs are among the most common infections, primarily affecting the urinary tract and urethra, but in severe cases, they can reach the kidneys, especially in arthritis patients.
