Congress Parliamentary Party To Meet Tuesday, Strategy To Corner Govt On The Cards
The Congress Parliamentary Party’s general body meeting is scheduled to be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the Central Hall of Parliament, ANI reported.
New Delhi: Days after the grand old party received drubbing in the recent assembly elections, the Congress Parliamentary Party will meet in the national capital on Tuesday.
The Congress Parliamentary Party’s general body meeting is scheduled to be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the Central Hall of Parliament, ANI reported.
The Congress Parliamentary Party’s general body meeting will be chaired by party president Sonia Gandhi.
The Congress is likely to chalk out a strategy to corner Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre over the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel.
This comes as the non-BJP states have attacked the Centre for not lowering the central excise duty on fuel.

The petrol prices were above Rs 100 a litre mark in all major cities across the country on Sunday.
This came after the petrol and diesel rates were hiked by 80 paise a litre each. This is the 11th increase in less than two weeks that took the total to a record Rs 8 per litre.
In addition, the party is expected to discuss the poll debacle in five states, including politically crucial Uttar Pradesh, and the current political situation.
The meeting also assumes significance as earlier last month the Group of 23 (G-23) leaders appeared to be miffed with the party leadership’s style of functioning.
In tune with the same, they had pushed the Congress high command for internal reforms after the party’s disastrous performance in the five states that recently voted.
Besides, there have been growing murmurs within the Congress that Gandhis should step aside and give some other leader a chance to lead the grand old party.
