Bihar's Brand New Darbhanga Airport To Be Functional Soon, Bookings To Begin By September-End, Says Aviation Minister
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is developing the Darbhanga and Deoghar airports. With their operationalisation, air connectivity of the region is expected to be improved.
Informing booking by September end, he stated, "Bookings will start by end September for daily flights from Darbhanga to Delhi, Mumbai & Bengaluru. Flight Operations will begin in the first week of November, before the auspicious festival of Chhath Puja. This a boon for 22 districts of North Bihar".Very happy to see that most of the work at the airport is almost complete. Arrival & departure halls, check-in facility, conveyor belt etc have already been installed. Remaining work will be completed before end October. Hardeep Puri also emphasised on the strategic location of the Deoghar airport by stating that apart from providing aviation connectivity to the Santhal region, it is strategically located to provide connectivity to Patna, Kolkata and Bagdogra, and will also be able to serve people from Bhagalpur and Jamui districts of Bihar. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is developing these airports. With their operationalisation, air connectivity of the region will be improved, the Civil Aviation Ministry had informed in a statement earlier. The Deoghar airport in Jharkhand is being developed by the AAI in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the state government. The development of Deoghar airport with a project cost of Rs 401.34 crore and will be completed very soon, the ministry noted.
