Centre Hikes LPG Subsidy Under Ujjwala Scheme To Rs 300 Per Cylinder

The government has increased the subsidy amount for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana from Rs 200 to Rs 300 per LPG cylinder.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur announced on Wednesday (October 4) that the government has increased the subsidy amount on LPG cylinders from Rs 200 to Rs 300 per cylinder. This decision was revealed during a Cabinet decision briefing. "The government has increased the subsidy amount for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana from Rs 200 to Rs 300 per LPG cylinder," Thakur said.

Ujjwala recipients currently pay Rs 703 per 14.2-kg cylinder, compared to a market price of Rs 903. They will now pay Rs 603 as a result of the Union Cabinet's decision.

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), also known as the Ujjwala Yojana, is a social welfare programme that was launched in May 2016. The primary goal of the Ujjwala scheme is to provide women in households that rely on traditional and unhealthy cooking methods such as burning wood, coal, or biomass with access to clean cooking fuel.

"This will bring relief to crores of women," said Anurag Thakur, minister of information and broadcasting. The terms of reference for the Krishna water dispute tribunal have been approved by the Union Cabinet. In response to the development, Thakur stated that the decision is in line with Telangana's demand.

The Cabinet has also approved the establishment of the National Turmeric Board, and the government has already issued the necessary notification. The government has set an ambitious goal of increasing turmeric exports from Rs 1,600 crore to an impressive Rs 8,400 crore.
