CBI Conducts Searches At Former Finance Secretary Arvind Mayaram's Premises
The CBI raids are being conducted in Delhi and Jaipur, as per reports.
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out searches at the premises of former finance secretary Arvind Mayaram in an alleged corruption case on Thursday, news agency PTI reported.
The CBI raids are being conducted in Delhi and Jaipur, as per reports. The CBI investigation states that Mayaram was allegedly involved in irregularities in the tender awarded for currency printing.
According to reports, the raids are currently going on for the last six hours. A CBI source said that a few incriminating documents have been recovered in the raid so far.
As of now, the central agency has not given any official statement on the matter and no arrest has been made so far.
Along with Mayaram, some other officials from the Finance Ministry and RBI are also being investigated, as per reports.

It is to be noted that Arvind Mayaram served as the Finance Secretary of India during 2012-14.
Mayaram was shunted to the Rural Development Ministry during P Chidambaram’s tenure as the Finance Minister under the Congress-led UPA government.
The 1978 batch IAS officer also served as Chief Economic Advisor to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
Mayaram holds a PhD in Finance and has served the Alternate Governor for India on the boards of World Bank, Asian Development Bank and African Development Bank.
He also served as India’s finance deputy in G20 and BRICS.
Mayaram was a part of the board of the Reserve Bank of India, the Securities Exchanges Board of India and Life Insurance Corporation of India among other positions.
