'Bring My Daughter Back': Mother Of Hyderabad Woman Seen Starving In Chicago Appeals To EAM For Help
Syeda Wahaj Fatima, the woman's mother, asked External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for aid in getting her daughter back in a letter.
A Hyderabad woman who travelled to the United States to obtain a master's degree in information science was found on the streets of Chicago suffering from despair and malnutrition after all of her possessions were allegedly stolen. Syeda Wahaj Fatima, the woman's mother, asked External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for aid in getting her daughter back in a letter.
Amjed Ullah Khan, a spokesperson for the Telangana-based Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), brought her situation to light.
Khan uploaded a video of the woman sitting on a street curb with a few items on his Twitter handle. Initially, the woman is shown having difficulty recalling her name. When queried about her condition, she stated that she was rushed to a hospital for treatment, but her health worsened after blood samples were removed from her body for testing.
''Syeda Lulu Minhaj Zaidi from Hyd went to pursue MS from TRINE University, Detroit was found in a very bad condition in Chicago, her mother appealed @DrSJaishankar to bring back her daughter,'' he tweeted.

The letter written by the woman's mother read, “My daughter Syeda Lulu Minhaj Zaidi, a resident of Maula Ali in Telangana, went to pursue her Masters in Information Science from TRINE University, Detroit, USA during August 2021 and was often in touch with us. Since past two months, she has not been in touch with me and recently we came to know through two Hyderabad youths that my daughter is in depression and someone stole her belongings, which left her to starvation. My daughter was spotted on the roads of Chicago in the USA.”
She further stated that her daughter might be found with the assistance of Mohammed Minhaj Akhter and asked the Indian Embassy in Washington DC and the Indian Consulate in Chicago to return her.
