Background

On the second day of his three-day visit, the Union Home Minister will be in Jammu and is likely to meet BJP workers at the party office and then hold a public rally in Bhagwati Nagar.

He is expected to interact with various delegations on Sunday as a part of the Union government’s outreach programme.

It was a day of heavy rain and snow in several parts of the Valley. If the weather holds, he will visit Jammu on Sunday to address a public rally and return to Srinagar, the officials said, as reported by PTI.

Security was beefed up across Kashmir ahead of Amit Shah's visit and additional forces have been deployed, particularly in the city.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the nation on the 82nd edition of his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat' today. The programme will be broadcast on the entire network of AIR and Doordarshan and also on AIR News and mobile app. "Mann ki Baat" is the Prime Minister's monthly radio address, which is broadcast on the last Sunday of every month however, this time the programme will be broadcast on the second last Sunday of the month.

"This month, the #MannKiBaat programme will take place on the 24th. I invite you all to share your ideas for this month's episode. Write on the NaMo App, @mygovindia or dial 1800-11-7800 to record your message," tweeted PM Modi.

In his last Mann Ki Baat, underlining the importance of rainwater harvesting in Indian culture, PM Modi compared the traditional festivals of Jal-Jeelani Ekadashi and Chhatt with the National Water Mission's (NWM) campaign "Catch The Rain".

In another update, Ashish Mishra, son of union minister Ajay Mishra Teni and the main accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, is reportedly suffering from dengue and has been hospitalised.

According to IANS sources, Ashish's health deteriorated and he had to be admitted to the jail hospital.

Ashish who was taken on police remand on Friday, had complained of fever and his blood reports on Saturday confirmed that he was suffering from dengue.

He was admitted to the jail hospital at 10.p.m on Saturday after his condition deteriorated.

Ashish Mishra was arrested in connection with the violence that was triggered after he allegedly ran his car over protesting farmers in Tikunia in Lakhimpur Kheri.

Four farmers were mowed down by an SUV in Lakhimpur Kheri when a group agitating against the Centre's three new farm laws was staging a demonstration against the visit of UP deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on October 3.

Two BJP workers, a driver and a journalist were killed in the violence that followed.

Meanwhile, three more persons were arrested on Saturday in connection with the case, taking the total number of arrests to 13.
