Subrata Roy To Be Cremated On Thursday
The mortal remains of Sahara Group Chairman Subrata Roy who died on Tuesday will be consigned to flames in Lucknow on Thursday.
The body of 'Saharashri', as Subrata Roy was popularly known, was flown to Lucknow from Mumbai on Wednesday evening and kept at Sahara Shaher to enable people to pay their respects.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak, and former minister Raja Bhaiyya, have condoled Roy's death through posts on social media.
Several political leaders, cutting across party lines, reached Sahara Shaher to pay tribute to the departed soul.
Depression Likely To Bring Rainfall In Bengal's Coastal Districts From Nov 16-18
A cyclonic circulation over the south Andaman Sea is likely to intensify into a low-pressure area, which could turn into a depression over the central Bay of Bengal on Thursday, the India Meteorological Department said.
The system is expected to bring light to moderate rain in the coastal districts of West Bengal from November 16-18, Regional Met Director G K Das said.
"We are keeping a close watch on the direction the system may take and its intensity," Das said.
The cyclonic circulation existing over the south Andaman Sea is likely to intensify into a low pressure, and thereafter into a depression, moving west-northwestwards into the central Bay of Bengal on Thursday, the IMD said in a bulletin.
Anti-Drug Campaign: Punjab CM To Flag Off Bicycle Rally In Ludhiana On Thursday
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will flag off a bicycle rally as part of a campaign against the drug menace here on Thursday.
More than 20,000 people have registered themselves for the rally, which will start from the Punjab Agricultural University campus, Commissioner of Police Mandeep Singh Sidhu said.
Punjab Police Chief Gaurav Yadav will also participate in the event.
Sidhu said the bicycle rally will act as a catalyst to spread awareness among people against drugs and will be a befitting tribute to Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha on his martyrdom day.
He said people from all walks of life, including doctors, industrialists, students, village heads and politicians, will participate in the rally, making this anti-drug campaign a mass movement.
The rally will begin at 7 am from the PAU campus and culminate at the same place after covering a distance of around 13 km.
