UU Lalit To Take Oath As 49th Chief Justice Today
Justice Uday Umesh Lalit will be sworn in as the 49th Chief Justice of India (CJI) on Saturday. A warrant of his appointment was signed by President Droupadi Murmu earlier this month.
There will be no change of guard ceremony on August 27 due to the swearing-in of the new chief justice of India, the Rashtrapati Bhavan informed. "The change of guard ceremony will not to be held this Saturday (August 27, 2022) on the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan due to swearing-in-ceremony of the Chief Justice of India," the Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a statement.
PM Modi On 2-Day Gujarat Visit From Today, To Inaugurate Atal Bridge
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the pedestrian-only 'Atal Bridge'' on Sabarmati river in Gujarat's Ahmedabad city on Saturday. He will be on a two-day visit to the state, which will culminate on Sunday.
"On the first day of his visit, Modi will address a gathering at the 'Khadi Utsav' programme to be held on Sabarmati Riverfront here in the evening. From the same venue, the PM will inaugurate the foot over bridge, built by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee," said a state government release.
This iconic bridge, having an eye-catching design and LED lighting, is nearly 300 meters long and 14 meters wide in the middle and connects the flower garden on the western-end of the riverfront and the upcoming arts and culture centre on the eastern-end, the release added.

Goa Police Arrest Two More Accused In Connection With Sonali Phogat Murder Case
Anjuna Police have arrested two more accused in connection with the murder case of BJP leader Sonali Phogat, news agency ANI reported. "Based on the disclosure of the accused Sudhir Sangwan the drugs given to the deceased (Sonali Phogat) were seized from the washroom of the Curlies restaurant. The drugs have been identified as Metamemphatamine," Goa Police said.
Police have registered offences under NDPS act against owner of Curlies restaurant Edwin Nunes & Dattaprasad Gaonkar who was involved in supplying of drugs.
Sonali Phogat's Family To Meet Haryana CM Today, To Demand CBI Probe In Case
The family of BJP leader and social media peronality Sonali Phogat, who was killed in Goa earlier this week, will meet with the CM Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar today evening in Chandigarh. "We will ask for CBI enquiry in the case," Kuldeep Phogat, brother-in-law of Sonali Phogat told news agency ANI.
