The Uttar Pradesh legislative party meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party will be held in Lucknow on Thursday, before the swearing-in ceremony of the new Adityanath-led government takes place on March 25.
According to reports, Central observers Amit Shah and former Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das will be reaching Lucknow on Thursday for the meeting.
The caretaker Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached the national capital on Wednesday evening to discuss government formation in the state with the party's Central leadership.
Mamata To Visit Violence-Hit Birbhum District
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would visit Bogtui village in Birbhum district on Thursday, where houses were set on fire shortly after a village panchayat deputy chief was murdered, to take stock of the situation.
She has also asserted that strict action would be taken against the perpetrators of violence in Birbhum district, where eight people were charred to death in a village the day before.
President Kovind To Address Gujarat Assembly
President Ram Nath Kovind will address the Gujarat Assembly on Thursday during his two-day visit to the state, Speaker Nimaben Acharya.
On Friday, Kovind will award the 'President's Colour' to the Indian Naval Ship (INS) 'Valsura' at a ceremony to be held in Jamnagar, a Gujarat defence PRO earlier said in a release.
7,000 To 15,000 Russian Troops Killed In Ukraine So Far
NATO estimated on Wednesday that 7,000 to 15,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in four weeks of fighting in Ukraine, where the country's defenders have put up stiffer-than-expected resistance and denied Moscow the lightning victory it hoped for.
A senior NATO military official said the estimate was based on information from Ukrainian officials, what Russia has released intentionally or not and intelligence gathered from open sources. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity under ground rules set by NATO.
India's Covid Tally
India reported 1,778 fresh Covid cases, marginally higher than the previous days' count of 1,581 in a span of 24 hours. In the same period 62 deaths were recorded taking the total number to 5,16,605, Health Ministry data on Wednesday revealed.
Following a continuous downward trend, India's active caseload further declined to 23,087 on Wednesday, constituting 0.05 per cent of the country's total positive cases.
OIC Irrelevant, Pakistan Its Manipulator, Says India On Kashmir Reference
India on Thursday hit out at OIC’s references to Kashmir in statements adopted at its meeting in Islamabad, saying these "demonstrate both the irrelevance of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation as a body and role of Pakistan as its manipulator".
In a strongly-worded response to the OIC statement, Ministry of External Affairs spokesman Arindam Bagchi said references have been made to India and are based on falsehoods and misrepresentation.
