BJP's Virtual Rally In Bihar Amid Covid-19 Crisis; Tejashwi Terms It 'Political Vulturism'

BJP, the JD(U) and the LJP are part of the NDA in the state and will be challenged by the alliance of the RJD and the Congress besides some smaller parties in the assembly polls.

Patna: On the backdrop of Bharatiya Janata Party's campaign for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2020, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address the people of the state through an online event on Sunday. Elections in Bihar are slated for October-November. The saffron party has shifted towards a digital mode of campaigning in the poll-bound state due to the imposed restrictions to hold any big political gathering the across the country to prevent the spread of deadly Coronavirus that has already infected over 2 lakh people in India. The virtual rally is part of the BJP's over month-long campaign to highlight the achievements of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government after it completed the first year of its second term on May 30. As per reports, Shah is expected to dwell in length over the upcoming Assembly Polls in which his party is in alliance with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal United (JDU) and Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). Bihar BJP leaders have said the party has made arrangements at most of the over 72,000 booths in the state for its workers and the masses to hear Shah's address. However, calling Shah's rally nothing but a 'political vulturism', leader of Opposition in Bihar Tejashwi Yadav said electioneering amidst the Coronavirus crisis in the country shows that saffron party was only interested in electoral victory even at the cost of human lives. He also accused the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government of meting out "step-motherly" treatment to migrant labourers and asserted that this would be a major issue in the Assembly Polls slated for later this year. BJP's Virtual Rally In Bihar Amid Covid-19 Crisis; Tejashwi Terms It 'Political Vulturism While speaking to news agency PTI, Yadav said he is hopeful that all like-minded parties who are driven by the same ideology of pro-constitutional supremacy and pro-poor would come under one umbrella and fight the "divisive and a failed government of 15 years" in the state. BJP will sound the poll bugle in Bihar with the virtual rally by the Union minister and party's senior leader Shah who will address the people of the state through video conference and Facebook live. The saffron party has set a target of roping in "at least one lakh people across the 243 assembly segments in Bihar" for the event, besides those who may prefer to listen to the speech on the social networking site. "This virtual election rally (of the BJP) amidst the crisis of the century that has crippled the health infrastructure, and spread of the disease has reached community level in the state, speaks volumes about the priorities of the BJP," Yadav told the news agency. Rather than helping the poor, needy and migrants, they want to win elections even at the cost of human lives," he added. BJP, the JD(U) and the LJP are part of the NDA in the state and will be challenged by the alliance of the RJD and the Congress besides some smaller parties in the assembly polls. In the 2015 Assembly Elections, the NDA had lost badly to the grand alliance of the RJD-JD(U)-Congress but Nitish Kumar later broke ties with his allies in 2017 and entered the saffron alliance again after a gap of over four years.
