A BJP youth leader named Priyanka Sharma has been arrested in West Bengal’s Howrah district for posting a meme on social media where she had superimposed state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s face on Priyanka Chopra’s recent Met Gala costume.

  Howrah: A BJP youth leader named Priyanka Sharma has been arrested in West Bengal’s Howrah district for posting a meme on social media where she had superimposed state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s face on Priyanka Chopra’s recent Met Gala costume. The BJP worker was arrested following a complaint by Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Vibhas Hazra who called it a “most awful post” and described the meme as “she cut the face of Mamata Banerjee from any picture and paste it on a picture of some model of something like that (sic)“. Hazra thus alleged that via the meme, Sharma had insulted not just Mamata but also the culture of Bengal. A complaint was lodged at Dasnagar Police station against Sharma, a BJP Yuva Morcha leader, accused of uploading and sharing Banerjee's morphed picture in her Facebook timeline and thereby violating community guidelines, an official of Howrah City police's Cyber Cell said. In making meme of Banerjee, the accused allegedly used Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas's image at the MET Gala event. The theme for this year's MET Gala was 'Camp: Notes on Fashion'.
