Won’t Lose Opportunity To Promote Themselves Shamelessly: Congress Hits Out At BJP On India’s G20 Logo

Congress has hit out at the BJP over India’s G20 logo, accusing the saffron party of 'shamelessly promoting themselves'.

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has hit out at the BJP for using lotus in the official logo of India’s G20 presidency. He said that for 70 years former Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru rejected the proposal to make Congress flag the flag of India. Taking to twitter he said, “Over 70 years ago, Nehru rejected the proposal to make Congress flag the flag of India. Now, BJP's election symbol has become official logo for India's presidency of G20! While shocking, we know by now that Mr. Modi & BJP won’t lose any opportunity to promote themselves shamelessly!”

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the logo, theme, and website of India's G20 Presidency via video conferencing.
Speaking at the launch, PM Modi, as quoted by news agency ANI said, "India has led the world with initiatives like One Sun, One World, and One Grid in conserving renewable energy. Our mantra of One Earth, One Family, One Future in G20 will pave a path for global welfare.”

"Guided by the vision of the Prime Minister, the foreign policy of India has been evolving to undertake leadership roles on the global stage. In a significant step in this direction, India will assume G20 Presidency from 1st December, 2022," stated the official press release by the PMO.

India will assume G20 Presidency from December 1, 2022 and during its G20 Presidency duration, the country will hold about 200 meetings in 32 different sectors in multiple locations across the nation.  The G20 Summit to be held next year, would be one of the highest profile international gatherings to be hosted by India.

G20 is the premier forum for international economic cooperation representing around 85% of the global GDP, over 75% of the global trade, and about two-thirds of the world population, it added.

Notably, G20 comprises Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK, the US and the European Union (EU).
