Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the crowd at Poribortan Yatra In Cooch Behar where he delivered a scathing attack against the CM Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government.
He talked about the much-debated "Jai Shri Ram" sloganeering as he said "for Mamata Banerjee, the slogan of Jai Shree Ram is an insult. If Jai Shri Ram is not chanted in India, where does she expect it to be chanted, Pakistan?"
"You (CM Mamata) want votes from a specific community. Why is that? Are others not voting? .. Mamata will also say Jai Shree Ram by Bengal election," he added.
The former BJP President also brought up the issue of Ayushman Bharat Scheme which as per the leaders of the union government is not reaching the people of West Bengal because of the insecurity of the state government.
"You (CM Mamata) won't be able to stop the scheme from reaching people by May as you won't retain power by then," he said.
"Modi government is bound for the welfare of poor while Mamata govt is bound for the welfare of her nephew," he added as he attacked the CM further. "If not for Dilip Ghosh, Mamata Didi would have announced her nephew as Bengal CM," he claimed.
Calling Mamata Banerjee a "failed CM", Amit Shah said that the people of West Bengal have to choose between "Vikas model (Development Model)" and "Vinash model (Destruction Model)".
"Nobody can stop you from voting, take the fear out of your minds," he told people as he brought up the issue of violence against BJP workers and alleging that "TMC goons" were going to scare people during the polls. The Union Home Minister read out the names of some workers asking what was their fault when all they did was say "Jai Shree Ram" and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai".
Shah further alleged that the state of West Bengal currently stands at number 4 in deaths and in attempted and political murders, it stands at a dubious number 1. whereas it should be number 1 in terms of development and progress.
He then talked about making the Northern region of the state the most developed and then accused CM Mamata and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee of keeping the financial aid extended for Bengal's development and not letting it reach the common people.
"In 5 years, PM Modi has sent Rs 3.59 lakh crore for Bengal's development. Where did all this money go if it did not reach your villages? It has all been siphoned off by TMC goons, and not a single penny reached the citizens of Bengal," he said.
The former BJP President also brought up the incident of Mamata Banerjee getting upset by the slogans raised ahead of her speech during the ceremony commemorating the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
"Mamata keeps fighting with Modi Ji, even in the Subhas Ji's event she picked up a fight, was that necessary at all? will it be beneficial for anyone?" he asked.
Pitching for BJP he added, "Vote for PM Modi and BJP in the state - this double engine government will take the state towards development, not the kind of government that is engaged in clashes, fights and letting infiltrators in".
Once again bringing up the religious element, he also said: "No one should have to move to court for being able to do Durga puja".
Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday flagged off the fourth round of 'Poribartan Yatra' from Cooch Behar in West Bengal. He had said that this Poribortan Yatra is not to change the Chief Minister or the government and any MP. This yatra is to bring a change for the people of this state, to make it "Sonar Bangla".
