Kolkata: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah's rally in West Bengal's Jhargram had to cancelled, following the Trinamool Congress state administration's denying permission for landing his chopper in the region. Amit Shah was scheduled to land at Jhargram, located in the southern part of the state, and address a rally on Wednesday morning.
BJP leaders Kailash Vijayavargiya and Roopa Ganguly were likely to attend the rally in his place. Union minister Smriti Irani is also expected to be in attendance.
West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee had allegedly red-flagged Amit Shah's helicopter -- for the second time, earlier last night.
The BJP workers spent whole of last night trying to convince the magistrate for the required permission, but to no avail. The Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government had earlier denied permission for landing Shah's chopper in Malda district -- where the BJP chief eventually held a rally last evening (Tuesday).
