Criticizing the BJP MLA, opposition leader Animesh Debbarma stated that all lawmakers are responsible individuals whose actions should not set a terrible precedence for others, particularly the younger generations. Debbarma urged that the legislator be held accountable.
The CPI(M) and Congress both condemned Nath and sought harsh punishment for him.
"Operation of mobile phones inside the Assembly is restricted. We should all concentrate on the proceedings and business of the House.. Despite this, Nath watched the porn video damaging the reputations of the House," Birajit Sinha, state Congress chief and one of the three party MLAs was quoted by IANS in its report.
He stated that if the BJP has any moral compass, it must take action against Nath.
The BJP Lawmaker refuted the claims when reached by IANS. "I will talk to the Assembly Speaker (BiswaBandhu Sen) and state Party President (Rajib Bhattacharjee) and then I will take next course of actions," Nath stated.
Nath was voted to the state Assembly for the first time in February 2016 from the Bagbassa seat in north Tripura. The 55-year-old man is also the Secretary of the Tripura state unit of the BJP.
