Mahagathbandhan Won't Last Long, Nitish's Dream Of Becoming PM Shattered: Jitan Ram Manjhi Amid Bihar Turmoil

HAM President stated that he had sensed earlier that there would be a change in the state after hearing the statements of his former ally and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing political crisis in Bihar, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday said that the ruling Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) government will not last for long in the state.

He stated that he had sensed earlier that there would be a change in the state after hearing the statements of his former ally and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Notably, speculations are rife about JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar once again breaking ties with the RJD and other Mahagathbandhan partners in Bihar to form a government with the BJP.

"Recently I had said that there would be a change in Bihar after January 20 (Saturday) and the basis of this was Nitish Kumar's statement. He has said many things against RJD. On this basis, we said that the alliance would not work. Their alliance will not last for long. Nitish Kumar's dream of becoming PM has been shattered. Therefore, after breaking the alliance, he may contest the Lok Sabha elections independently or join the other alliance," the former chief minister said.

HAM President further stated even if Kumar switched sides, he would not compromise with the chief minister post.

"For now, we cannot say when that will happen, but normally Nitish Kumar does not compromise on the Chief Ministeral post. Nothing can be said about whether the NDA alliance under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will accept Kumar as the Chief Minister or not," he added.

Meanwhile, Manjhi's political advisor, Danish Rizwan, said that Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) is with the NDA for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. "I would like to confirm this that Jitan Ram Manjhi and the Hindustani Awam Morcha are with the NDA for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and the 2025 (Bihar) Assembly elections. Our full support is with PM Modi and the NDA," Rizwan said.

Earlier on Wednesday, on the occasion of Karpoori Thakur's birth centenary celebrations, Nitish Kumar launched a scathing attack on dynastic politics saying, "Karpoori Thakur never promoted his family. Taking inspiration from him, I too have never promoted any member of my family."
