Bengal: Another 35 BJP Workers Return To TMC After 'Suddhikaran' With Gangajal In Howrah

While speaking about their homecoming, a TMC leader told ABP News that the workers had previously joined BJP due to some misunderstanding.

Kolkata:Another 35 workers who had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during West Bengal elections crossed over the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Friday after the process of 'Suddhikaran' (purification) with holy Gangajal at Domjur of Howrah.

While speaking about their homecoming, a TMC leader told ABP News that the workers had previously joined BJP due to some misunderstanding.

The development comes days after some 500 workers from the BJP had joined TMC earlier this week with some even shaving their heads "in penance for their sins".

These BJP activists rejoined TMC in the presence of local MP Aparupa Poddar at Balpai locality in the Khanakul area and alleged that they were fed up with the communal, hatred-filled policies of the saffron party and wanted to return to TMC.

Eight of those 500 activists had shaved their head during the homecoming event claiming that were repentant for their conduct during the assembly polls and were doing penance.

Meanwhile, BJP state president Dilip Ghosh has alleged that BJP workers (who have joined the saffron clad from TMC) are being forced to return to TMC as the ruling party is threatening them to do so.

Several BJP leaders, workers and activists have left the party to rejoin TMC after party supremo Mamata Banerjee recently said that TMC would consider the appeal of those wishing to return to party if they were not harshly critical of TMC during the assembly polls.
