'As Of Now, Alliance Exists': Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar On Ties With Dushyant Chautala's JJP
Speculations over BJP-JJP alliance are rife after four Independent MLAs from Haryana met state incharge Biplab Deb. Haryana Lokhit Party leader Gopal Kanda also met him in Delhi.
New Delhi: Amid speculations that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may sever its ties with Dushyant Chautala's Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) in Haryana ahead of the Assembly elections next year, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday dodged all questions on the possibility and said “As of now, the alliance exists.” This comes a day after CM Khattar met Haryana incharge Biplab Kumar Deb and had "an in-depth discussion on important matters related to the state".
Speaking to the media on Saturday, CM Khattar said, “The last elections were not fought on an alliance with the JJP. Since none of the parties secured a majority in the polls, we stitched up an alliance with them to form the government. The Congress only has 30 MLAs. Barring a couple of others, the rest are all with us. As of now there is no issue and the alliance is very much in place.”

Talking further about his meeting with Biplab Deb, the chief minister said, “What happens now is for our party affairs in charge to decide, in the interest of the party and the state. Only he can explain the reasons behind his meeting people… Yes, he met me, but we discussed other issues.”
Speculations over the BJP-JJP alliance are rife after four Independent MLAs from Haryana met Biplab Deb in Delhi on Thursday and Friday. Haryana Lokhit Party leader Gopal Kanda also met him in the national capital.
After his meeting with Deb, CM ML Khattar took to Twitter and wrote, "Had an in-depth discussion with @BJP4Haryana incharge @BJPBiplab on important matters related to Haryana at Sant Kabir Kutir (Chief Minister's residence), Chandigarh."
It is to be noted that the Haryana government has been facing severe criticism from various quarters after police lathi-charged farmers, who were demanding that sunflower seeds be procured at minimum support price, during a protest in Kurukshetra earlier this week.
