Arvind Kejriwal hails SC verdict, says big victory for democracy and people of Delhi

The Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled in favour of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led-Delhi government.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal hailed the Supreme Courts verdict on Wednesday and termed it as a big victory for the people of Delhi. The CM took to Twitter and wrote, "A big victory for the people of Delhi...a big victory for democracy..." The Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled in favour of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led-Delhi government. The apex court pronounced its verdict on the power tussle matter between the Centre and Delhi Government and said that 'Obeying the constitution is everybody's duty and responsibility'. The Supreme Court rulings gave more power to the elected government in Delhi and limited the role of LG. The court said that Lieutenant Governor has not been entrusted with independent powers.

Somnath Bharti AAP lawyer and MLA Somnath Bharti said that verdict of the apex court will now allow the stuck projects in Delhi to start again. He said the AAP government will continue to work for the full statehood demand for Delhi. "We will continue to create an atmosphere for it as it is a demand of the people not the government," he told media. Manish Sisodia Delhi Deputy Chief Minister called the verdict as a landmark judgement by Supreme Court. "Its a landmark judgement by Supreme Court. Now Delhi Govt will not have to send their files to LG for approval, now work will not be stalled," Manish Sisodia said. He thanks the Supreme Court for restoring the powers of an elected government. Deputy CM reiterated the accusations that the Centre was stalling the decision of the government through L-G. Watch Video- Raghav Chadha Spokesperson of Aam Aadmi Party Raghav Chadha said democracy has been restored. While speaking to the media, Chadha said that Supreme Court has cleared the fact that apart from 3 subjects, all subjects are under the Delhi government. Transferring bureaucrats will come under the Delhi government. "Arvind Kejriwal will have the same powers that Shiela Dikshit had. BJP will now have to suffer," Mr Chadha said. Saurabh Bharadwaj According to the AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj, the bench has certified that the Central goverment for political reasons has brought this noticfication when Arwind Kejriwal was elected the CM. He said, "the Supreme Court has basically turned down their notification and I think it is a big certificate for everybody."
