Anti-Israel Protests In Kashmir, Ladakh After Killing Of Hezbollah’s Nasrallah; Children Join March In Budgam

Protest marches took place in Budgam, Jammu & Kashmir as well as Kargil, Ladakh as demonstrations continued against Israel and the US over the killing of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah.

A protest march took place in Budgam, Jammu & Kashmir, against the killing of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF). Footage shared by news agency ANI showed a significant turnout, including children participating in the march.

One student, visibly angry, stated, "I am speaking to everyone who is against Palestine. I want to assure the people of Lebanon that they should not worry; we stand with them. Shias stand with them. We will never abandon them. You do not know who you have made a martyr. Now, Hezbollah will emerge from every home."

In Kargil, Ladakh, the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) also organised a protest in response to Nasrallah's killing, news agency ANI reported.

Omar Abdullah, Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), spoke to reporters about the rising tensions in the Middle East following Nasrallah's death. He commented on the recent decision by People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti to cancel her campaign "in solidarity with those killed in Lebanon and Gaza, especially Hassan Nasrallah."

Omar Abdullah stated, “I have nothing to say about Mufti's decision. We have opposed the bombing by Israel since last year. The killings and injuries of innocent people in Gaza and Lebanon must cease. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other world leaders should pressure Israel to establish peace in the region."

Anti-Israel, Anti-US Protest Continue In Kashmir

Protests continued into Sunday across several areas of Kashmir, with large crowds of men, women, and children brandishing black flags in Magam and Zadibal. Protesters chanted anti-Israel and anti-US slogans, denouncing Nasrallah's killing. Officials reported that while the protests remained largely peaceful, a substantial police presence was deployed to maintain order, news agency PTI reported.

Numerous leaders condemned the killing, including Lok Sabha member Aga Ruhullah and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, both of whom suspended their election campaigns in light of the events.

Earlier on Saturday, Mehbooba Mufti announced on social media, "Cancelling my campaign tomorrow in solidarity with the martyrs of Lebanon and Gaza, especially Hassan Nasrallah. We stand with the people of Palestine and Lebanon in this hour of immense grief and exemplary resistance." The IDF confirmed Nasrallah's death due to airstrikes in Beirut, declaring, "Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorise the world."

Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari also expressed his condemnation, stating that Israel's airstrikes are inflicting heavy casualties and massive destruction, with innocent civilians suffering the most. He noted, “The lack of any effective response from the international community is alarming, and the silence of world leaders worsens the situation. I stand in solidarity with the victims and pay tribute to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and other martyrs killed in these aggressive airstrikes."

Protests were also reported in Srinagar on Saturday, leading to significant traffic disruptions across the city, particularly along the Khanyar-Hazratbal axis, where many demonstrations were concentrated.
