Congress Alleges Twitter Account Of 5 Leaders Including Randeep Surjewala & Ajay Maken Locked

Congress has alleged the apart from Rahul Gandhi, 5 other senior leaders Twitter account have also been locked.

New Delhi: After the temporary lockout of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Twitter account for violating the rules of the microblogging platform, the Congress party alleged on Wednesday night that accounts of 5 other senior party leaders are facing the same action and their accounts have been locked.

Congress secretary-communication Vineet Punia in a tweet mentioned that the list of accounts that are facing the suspension include Congress media in-charge Randeep Surjewala and  Twitter handles of AICC general secretary and former union minister Ajay Maken, party MP Manickam Tagore, Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev, Assam in-charge and former Union minister Jitendra Singh Alwar were locked.

India Congress Committee secretary Pranav Jha also expressed resentment over the matter.

"So! After Shri @RahulGandhi, the Lord @narendramodi Ji and Vassal @Jack & @twitter have locked @rssurjewala, @ajaymaken & @sushmitadevinc. @INCIndia registers its protest and promises to continue the fight for each and all being wronged! We shall hold on @AshwiniVaishnaw Ji," tweeted AICC secretary in-charge of party's Communication Department.

"The list goes on. @Twitter locks @JitendraSAlwar and @manickamtagore and many more. Doesn't Modi Ji understand that we @INCindia'ns have a legacy of fighting even from behind the locks of kaala paani," he asked in another tweet.

"He thinks the virtual locks of Twitter will deter us from fighting for India," he asked.

Mumbai Regional Congress Committee’s official Twitter handle was allegedly blocked by Twitter on Wednesday for violating its rules.

“The Committee will write a mail to the social media company tomorrow to raise objections,” said Committee Working President Charan Singh Sapra, as quoted by ANI.

After Rahul Gandhi's Twitter account was temporarily locked Congres accused the microblogging platform of taking such action under pressure by the Central government. However, Twitter issued a statement and clarified that Gandhi's account has been locked due to a violation of policies.

Gandhi had tweeted pictures with the family of a nine-year-old victim of alleged rape and murder in Delhi last week.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) took cognizance of Gandhi's tweet and directed Twitter to act against the Congress leader's account for violating the privacy of a minor victim, mandated by the laws of the land.
