'After PM Modi, Real Development Of Northeast Began': Amit Shah In Gangtok

"PM Modi govt has decided to set up around 65,000 active PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Society). We've decided that within 5 yrs every panchayat will have one PACS & a dairy each," Shah said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday inaugurated the Eastern and North-Eastern Zones Dairy Cooperative Conclave 2022 at Sikkim's Gangtok, news agency ANI reported.

Addressing the gathering, Shah stated: "Narendra Modi govt has decided to set up around 65,000 active PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Society). We've decided that within 5 yrs every panchayat will have one PACS & a dairy each."

Stressing on the development in Northeast under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shah said: "In 75 yrs of independence, before Narendra Modi became the PM, northeast was considered only a tourist destination. After he became the PM, the real development of the northeast began."

Shah is in the Northeast for three days. On Saturday in Guwahati, Assam, Amit Shah will serve as the moderator of a regional conference on "Drug Trafficking and National Security." Examining the drug situation in the northeastern area and potential solutions are on the agenda of the conference.

Chief Ministers and DGPs from all the northeastern states will also attend the high-level conference.

At Gangtok's Raj Bhavan, he unveiled the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Ganga Prasad, the state governor, was also present.

Earlier today, Shah tweeted, "Leaving for the Northeast on my 3-day visit to Sikkim and Assam. Today will inaugurate the "Eastern and North-Eastern Zones Dairy Cooperative Conclave 2022" at Gangtok followed by a series of programs in Assam."

JP Nadda, the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, will also go to the Northeast today to open the party's largest office there.

The newly built Assam state BJP office in the Basistha neighbourhood of Guwahati will be officially opened by the party's senior leaders on Saturday, according to Assam State BJP President Bhabesh Kalita, in the presence of state party officials and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Nadda and Shah will also be present at the Guwahati Veterinary College playground for the party workers' gathering.
