'Batenge To Katenge' Reflects Government's Weakness, Says Akhilesh Yadav

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav slammed the BJP's "batenge to katenge" slogan, claiming it exposes the government's weakness and failure to protect people.

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party's slogan of "batenge to katenge [you will die if you are divided]" for Hindus showed that the government is weak. "With this slogan, the [Yogi Adityanath] government has shown that it is weak and cannot protect the people," Akhilesh Yadav said.

Referring to Yogi  Adityanath, Akhilesh Yadav said the slogan was delivered by the most suitable candidate for the BJP. "The slogan was prepared in a lab and then was sent to the most suitable leader to disseminate. Now the slogan is being spread in many places. This is being done to hide the failures of the government," Yadav said.

The 'batenge to katenge' slogan was delivered by Yogi Adityanath in Agra with reference to the Bangladesh riots. The slogan was also raised in Haryana before the assembly polls this year.

Samajwadi Party, Congress To Jointly Campaign For Assembly Polls

Samajwadi Party contesting all nine seats in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh byelections was decided after consultations with senior leaders of the Congress, party chief Akhilesh Yadav said. Dismissing reports of a rift with INDIA partner Congress, Akhilesh Yadav said that SP contesting all seats was part of the alliance's strategy.

Speaking at the ABP Shikhar Sammelan in Lucknow on Tuesday, Akhilesh Yadav further said that the Congress's strength will back up the Samajwadi Party during the campaigns. "We have even received an itinerary from the Congress for the joint campaigns," he said. However, he avoided a direct answer on whether Rahul Gandhi will campaign with him for SP, saying: "There are multiple elections in the country. Any leader coming to UP during the campaign period will join us," the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said.
