ABP News Impact: Media Persons Meet Hathras Victim's Family, 'Doubt It Was Our Daughter Who Was Cremated, Cops Thrashed Us'

After ABP News relentless efforts of 27 hours, the reporters were allowed to meet the family. the family said they don't believe it was their daughter who was cremated. The victim's kins also said that the DM threatened them and the UP cops thrashed the family.

New Delhi: After 27 hours of continuous effort, UP police allowed the ABP News team of reporters to enter the barricading and meet the bereaved family of the 20-year-old Dalit rape victim. It is ABP News Impact that media persons were allowed to meet the victim's kin. WATCH LIVE ABP News spoke to the family and the victim's brother said that the victim was gangraped, they don't know who's dead body was cremated by the UP cops.  They don't believe it was their daughter. The victim's family also said that the Hathras DM threatened the family saying, " you wouldn't have received any compensation if your daughter died by Coronavirus.' The victim's brother also said that their phones are under surveillance and SIT did not hand them any postmortem report. The victim's brother said, " when asked about the postmortem report we were told that you won't understand English." The victim's family continuously said that their daughter was gang-raped and they want justice for her. The victim's sister informed that the heavy police force was deployed yesterday and they were stopped from speaking to the media. The family said that " everybody came and visited the house but nobody brought justice to their daughter". The family also said that 2 female cops thrashed the victim's mother and other policemen beat the victim's family members. The victim's family said that their relatives were also not allowed to visit them and they are suspicious of the investigation going on and they don't trust the UP police or the government. The victim's father is unwell and is under medication. The family has been continuously saying that they don't have any faith in UP administration and the police and they are scared of them, The family also said that the video of DM threatening the family is completely true and he stopped them from speaking to the media. The victim's brother also said that they don't want any compensation of 25 lakhs or any government job, they just want one thing that is 'Justice for their daughter'. He also revealed that the family was not taken along with the victim in the ambulance when she was shifted to the hospital. ABP News team was stopped from reporting citing the reason that SIT was with the victim's family on Friday but the family said that nobody visited the family yesterday which raises serious questions on UP police. ABP News stands with the victim's family and is making every effort to expose the truth of the Hathras gangrape. In the latest development, Awanish Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, and DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi have reached Hathras and will meet the victim's family for the first time Meanwhile, the media has been asked to stay out of the victim's house since police personnel needs privacy for investigation. What happened to the Hathras victim? The victim died at Delhi’s Safdarjung hospital on Tuesday, two weeks after she was attacked brutally while helping her mother in the fields. She had suffered multiple fractures, paralysis, and a gash in her tongue in the horrific assault. The woman’s family members said the police forcibly performed the last rites last night even though they wanted to bring her body home one last time and cremate her in the morning as per customs.
