Houses Damaged In Cloudburst In Himachal's Kullu, Power Supply Hit
A cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu has wreaked havoc and led to massive flooding in the area, destroying nearby houses.
A cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu has damaged a number of houses and destroyed swathes of agricultural land as it caused massive flooding in the nearby area. Residents are also battling frequent power outages as the recent incident also affected the power supply. The state has also reeling under incessant rainfall over the past few weeks. Revenue officials have reached the spot to assess the situation.

After the water started to overflow due to a malfunction in a gate of the Malana Dam, the Kullu district administration on Monday asked the locals living on the banks of the Parvati river to stay vigilant of the situation. Deputy Commissioner, Kullu, Ashutosh Garg while talking to PTI said, "We have alerted the people living in villages on the banks of the river that they would be evacuated in case of a breach in Malana Dam 2."
At the moment, the situation is not serious as only 30 cusec water is overflowing and the Malana Dam 1 below the stream can hold water for some time in case of a breach, allowing evacuation, he said, as per PTI.

India Meteorological Department's local office in the area issued an 'Orange' alert while predicting heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places in eight of the 12 districts of the state on Wednesday and Thursday. The local weather station also cautioned against landslides, flash floods, mudslides and increased runoff in rivers. As per the state emergency response centre, 164 people have lost their lives so far in rain-related incidents and road accidents. The state from June 24 to now has suffered a loss of around Rs 5,269 crore, reported PTI.
