Delhi Covid Cases At 40-Day High Of 325, Zero Fatality In 24 Hours

In view of the increasing cases, a meeting of Department Of Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has been called on April 20.

New Delhi: The country's capital Delhi reported 325 fresh COVID-19 cases on Thursday which is the highest in 40 days, according to data shared by the city health department.

At the same time, the positivity rate of coronavirus has reached 2.39. In view of the increasing cases, a meeting of the Department Of Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has been called on April 20.

Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia admitted on Thursday that there has been an increase in the overall infections in Delhi, but he said that there is nothing to worry about at the moment. 

Sisodia, who is also Delhi's education minister urged people to stay alert. "We have to learn to live with Covid. We are constantly monitoring the situation," he said, according to news agency PTI.

On Wednesday, 299 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in Delhi, which was about 50 percent more than a day earlier i.e. Tuesday (202 cases).

There have been reports of some school children getting infected with COVID-19 in Delhi and the National Capital Region. The infection rate in Delhi has increased from 0.5 percent to 2.70 percent in a week. Doctors said that there is no need to panic as the number of daily new cases is still low. 

According to the latest health bulletin, Delhi's COVID-19 count and the loss of life because of the sickness remained at 18,67,206 and 26,158 separately on Thursday.

The national capital had detailed 141 cases and one demise because of the infection on Sunday, while the positivity rate was 1.29 percent.

It saw 160 Covid cases with a positivity pace of 1.55 percent on Saturday.

On Friday, the city had reported 146 cases with a positivity rate of 1.39 percent and one death.

During the third wave of the pandemic, the number of everyday Covid cases in Delhi had contacted a record high of 28,867 on January 13.

The city had recorded a positivity rate of 30.6 percent on January 14, the most noteworthy during the third wave of the pandemic, which was generally determined by the profoundly contagious Omicron variant.

A total of 574 Covid patients are in home isolation, an undeniable ascent from 504 the earlier day, the announcement said.

There are 9,745 beds for Covid patients in Delhi's hospitals and 48 (0.49 percent) of those are occupied, it added.
