Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS: 3,000 Cases Of Black Fungus Reported In Maharashtra So Far

Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS, May 30, Sunday: India reported 1,65,553 new COVID 19 cases, 2,76,309 discharges and 3,460 deaths on Sunday. As per Health Ministry, the positivity rate has been less than 10 per cent for the last five days. The national capital will remain under “strict lockdown" till June 7, except for construction and manufacturing units which would be allowed to resume from Monday with certain guidelines issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). “DDMA directs to extend the curfew, on movement of individuals (except for essential activities or services) in the territory of NCT of Delhi, till 5 am on June 7," said the DDMA order.

Vietnam has discovered a new coronavirus variant that's a hybrid of strains first found in India and the UK, the Vietnamese health minister said.

Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said Saturday that scientists identified the variant while examining the genetic makeup of the virus that had infected some recent patients. He said lab tests suggested it might spread more easily than other versions of the virus.

Centre targets to procure 20-25 crore vaccine doses by July end

Government of India targets to procure 20-25 crore vaccine doses by July end, and 30 crore doses in August-September. Serum Institute of India (SII) will provide 10-12 crore doses of Covishield vaccine to Govt next month (June).

Rajasthan records 2,298 fresh COVID-19 cases, 66 more deaths

Rajasthan's COVID-19 caseload surged to 9,38,460 on Sunday with 2,298 fresh infections while the death toll climbed to 8,317 as 66 more people succumbed to the viral disease. The number of active COVID-19 cases in Rajasthan stands at 49,224. So far, 8,80,919 coronavirus patients have recovered from the infection in the state, it said.

140 more deaths, 1,908 new cases in Uttar Pradesh

The COVID-19 death toll in Uttar Pradesh rose to 20,346 on Sunday with 140 more fatalities, while 1,908 new cases pushed the infection tally to 16,90,016, an official statement issued read.

In the past 24 hours, as many as 6,713 COVID-19 patients have recovered, taking the overall recoveries in the state to 16,28,456.

The count of active cases stands at 41,214. 

Over 3.40 lakh samples have been tested in past 24 hours, while so far, over 4.90 crore tests have been done in the state, it added.

Telangana extends lockdown for 10 more days

Telangana government extends the lockdown for 10 more days in the State. The daily relaxation period extended from 6 am to 1pm. Detailed guidelines to be issued soon
