Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS: After weeks of lockdown in several states and cities, the number of fresh Covid-19 cases and deaths related to the novel disease has started to slow down. The country for the first time since April 14 recorded lowest daily rise in infections on Tuesday. The Indian Medical Association reported that a total of 513 doctors have died across the country in second wave of COVID-19. In another development, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday in meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterre discussed the Covid challenges, underlining the importance of finding urgent & effective global vaccine solutions against Covid-19.

Jharkhand records less than 1k COVID cases

Jharkhand registered 977 new COVID-19 cases, 2403 recoveries and 19 deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases stands at 14,196 in the state.

Assam reported 5,699 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours. 90 people have died due to the virus in the state in a day, as per the medical bulletin. The number of active cases stands at 52,884.

Karnataka's health minister on black fungus

Using steroids in first week of COVID treatment is one of the causes of black fungus infection, Karnataka's health minister said on Wednesday. He added, "This needs to be avoided & it should be used only from second week. A new discharge policy and post-COVID precautions have been formulated for recovered patients. During discharge, Covid patients will be tested for any fungus infection and will also be subjected to MRI scan if necessary. All district hospitals have been instructed to have a dedicated post-covid ward."

Coronavirus LIVE: Bihar records 2,603 new COVID19 cases

Bihar reported 2,603 new COVID19 cases in the last 24 hours, the State health department said in a medical bulletin. The number of active cases stands at 30,992.

10,000 sachets of DRDO-developed 2DG drug to be issued on May 27

The second batch of 10,000 sachets of DRDO-developed 2DG drug will be issued tomorrow by Dr. Reddy’s Lab. The drug would be available commercially now, DRDO officials said on Wednesday.
