Slandering Of People In Higher Positions On Rise, Says CJI NV Ramana

New Delhi: Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana on Thursday said some people are deriving "sadistic pleasure" by misinterpreting judgments given by the court in recent times. All are friends to the judiciary as long as they do not cross their limits, said CJI. He was addressing a meeting after inaugurating 32 new judicial districts co-terminus with newly created 32 revenue districts in Telangana, the Supreme Court CJI said, "the judiciary is not a system that works for selfish motives of certain sections and "some friends" should remember that judiciary always works to upkeep people's democratic rights always in accordance with the Constitution."

Communicating disappointment over the non-production of a public legal framework body, the thought mooted by him after he turned into the Chief Justice, Justice Ramana said states lost the potential chance to pass a unanimous resolution in such a manner during the recently held joint conference of chief ministers and chief justices of high courts.

"Benefits of the society and system are utmost important to the judiciary. In recent times it has become easy to slander people who are in higher positions. Those who could not achieve their selfish goals through the system are giving misinterpretation to courts' judgements through which the number of people who get sadistic pleasure is also increasing. This is an unfortunate development," Justice Ramana said.

"All are friends to the judiciary as long as they don't cross their limits. Sparing the ones who cross their limits is anti-constitutional. I request those friends to keep this in mind."

The legal system should know that the judiciary is not a system that works for selfish motives of certain sections, said Justice Ramana without referring to any particular section.

He focused on that it was the obligation of each and every resident of this country to guarantee a more grounded majority rule government, by keeping the judiciary as a free body.

CJI further said the recent 13 judicial districts in Telangana have now become 35, which is the first of its sort advancement in the country.

He said the Telangana government has shown a drive to decentralise the administration (by making new districts) accordingly legal executive was likewise extended subsequently offering types of assistance to individuals who seek legal remedies.

He said thanks to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who was likewise present in the meeting, for giving a vital framework to new courts.
