Breaking News LIVE: Delhi AQI Continues in 'Very Poor' Category

The air quality in the national capital continues under the ‘very poor’ category, however, strong winds can improve the situation marginally. The overall air quality index (AQI) was 315 on Monday in comparison to 349 on Sunday.


As per the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), a central forecasting body, the PM 10 levels were recorded at 249 in ‘moderate’ category and PM 2.5 levels were recorded at 139 in ‘very poor’ category. The share of stubble burning to Delhi’s PM2.5 was just 6 per cent and the effective fire count is 909, SAFAR stated.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the State Department on Monday advised against travel to Germany and Denmark because of a rising number of COVID-19 cases in those countries.


The CDC elevated its travel recommendation to "Level Four: Very High" for the two European countries, telling Americans they should avoid travel there, while the State Department issued parallel "Do Not Travel" advisories for both countries.


The CDC currently lists about 75 destinations worldwide at Level Four, with many European countries on the list including Austria, Britain, Belgium, Greece, Norway, Switzerland, Romania, Ireland and the Czech Republic.


Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel told leaders of her conservative party that measures being taken to stop the spread of the coronavirus in Europe's biggest economy were insufficient and that stronger action needed to be taken, Reuters reported on Monday.

Actor-turned-Trinamool leader Saayoni Ghosh, who was arrested on charges of criminal intimidation and attempt to murder, was on Monday granted bail by the court of additional chief judicial magistrate in West Tripura district.


Ms Ghosh was arrested after she raised Trinamool's 'khela hobe' slogan to allegedly disrupt a street-corner meeting being held by Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb.


Some people accompanying her had apparently hurled stones at those attending the meeting, police sources here said.


The Trinamool Youth Congress president was produced before the court of the additional chief judicial magistrate in West Tripura district, which granted her bail.


The court also asked her to furnish a bail bond of ₹ 20,000.


 West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that she would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday over the enhancement of Border Security Force (BSF) jurisdiction and development of the state during her visit to Delhi.


Addressing the mediapersons in Kolkata on Monday, Banerjee said, “I am going to Delhi because I have an appointment with the Prime Minister the day after tomorrow over the BSF jurisdiction and other development issues of the state.”
