Rahul Gandhi Told To Respond To Notices On Remarks On PM Modi

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has been asked by the Lok Sabha Secretariat to respond by February 15 to notices from BJP members regarding his remarks in the House about Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The secretariat asked Gandhi to respond by February 15 to breach of privilege notices issued against him by BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey and Pralhad Joshi, also the parliamentary affairs minister, for the Lok Sabha speaker's consideration in a letter dated February 10.

Dubey and Joshi had filed notices against Gandhi following his Tuesday "Motion of Thanks on the President's Address," in which he commented on the Hindenburg-Adani controversy.

In their notices to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, both leaders of the BJP claimed that Gandhi's remarks were without foundation and that he made allegations that were "contemptuous, unparliamentary, and dishonorable."

Civic Budget 2023-24: MCD To Pass Schedule Of Taxes, Says official

A senior official stated that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will pass the "schedule of taxes" in the civic budget for 2023–24 on Wednesday. The remaining portion of the budget exercise will be completed before March 31.

The unprecedented move comes at a time when Delhi has not elected a mayor despite three attempts.

"The Corporation will pass the schedule of taxes (in civic budget 2023-24) tomorrow. And, the remaining part of the budget exercise will be carried out before March 31," the official told PTI.

"The MCD hopes that by that time the deliberative wing led by a mayor will be in place, which will pass the remaining part of the budget," the official said.

However, the specifics of the tax schedule were not immediately available.

He stated that the schedule of taxes in a municipal budget must be approved by February 15 in accordance with the statutory requirement. According to officials, the MCD's special officer will approve it on Wednesday.
