Crucial RSS-BJP Meeting in Kolkata May Shape Bengal Strategy for 2024 Lok Sabha Polls
A crucial coordination meeting between the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Singh (RSS) and the West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is slated to take place in Kolkata on Sunday, news agency IANS reported. The meeting, chaired by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who is currently on a three-day visit to West Bengal, is anticipated to lay the groundwork for the BJP's strategy in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
The significance of Bhagwat's visit is underscored by recent visits to the state by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President J.P. Nadda, who assessed the organizational situation of the party. Speculation is rife over Bhagwat's scheduled visit to the residence of Upendra Nath Biswas, a former top CBI officer and ex-member of Mamata Banerjee-led state Cabinet, on Sunday. The agenda of the meeting remains undisclosed, according to an IANS report.

Kolkata to Witness Stringent Security Measures for New Year Celebrations
Kolkata will be under a blanket security cover from Sunday afternoon till late Monday evening in anticipation of New Year celebrations. Detailing the security measures, a senior Kolkata Police officer told IANS that 2,500 policemen will be deployed on the streets on Sunday, with the number increasing to 2,400 from Monday morning till late evening.
Maximum security arrangements will be implemented at Park Street and adjacent areas, known for attracting large crowds during year-end festivities. The city's party zones will be divided into six security sectors, with ten officers in the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) overseeing security and surveillance. These officers will be supported by assistant commissioners, inspectors, and sub-inspectors, IANS reported.
