Welcome to the ABP News LIVE for Saturday, April 3, 2021: India on Saturday reported a whopping 89,129 new Covid-19 cases and and 714 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said.
The total number of Covid-19 cases now stand at 1,23,92,260, total recoveries are at 1,15,69,241 and active cases are at 6,58,909. So far 1,64,110 people in India have died of the coronavirus.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s senior leader in Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma has appealed to the Election Commission to revoke the ban against him.
In a major setback to the BJP ahead of the third and final phase of the assembly election in the state, Election Commission banned the state minister from campaigning or speaking in public including on social media for 48 hours.
On Friday, a vehicle rammed through security and crashed into a barrier at the Washington complex killing a US Capitol police officer and injuring another. The shocking incident led to the area being put under lockdown.
According to a report by AFP, Acting Chief Yogananda Pittman told media persons that Capitol Police shot dead the driver after he jumped out of the car and lunged at them with a knife.
